TRAINING

Sensory Direct CIC offers a range of training opportunities which provide information and support the development of practical skills for interacting with people who have acquired sensory loss.

We believe that training should be fun as well as informative and we can tailor our in-house courses to your specific needs. Workshops also provide an excellent team building opportunity.
For employers and service providers

- Do you provide nursing, residential or home care for older people? Three quarters of your customers are likely to have hearing loss and use a hearing aid. One in six of your customers is likely to have a sight loss.

- Do whistling hearing aids cause problems? Hearing aids should not whistle in general use. We can teach your staff how to deal with this irritating noise.

- Are you a healthcare provider? The report A Simple Cure (RNID) found that 35% of deaf people were unclear about their condition because of communication problems and 24% had missed appointments (19% had missed more than 5 appointments). We can help you improve your service to ensure that you can communicate effectively with your patients.

- Do you deal with members of the public? There are approx 9 million Deaf/hard of hearing customers in the UK and 2 million people with an uncorrectable eye condition. Make sure you don’t miss out on their business.

Our courses will not only help you to understand the ‘reasonable adjustments’ in the Disability Discrimination Act, but also to ensure that your service is delivered in a customer friendly manner.

- If you are a Social Care employer, completion of these courses by your staff will enhance your organisation’s ability to increase your star rating in the new CSCI quality framework outlined in Inspecting for Better Lives: A quality future 2006.

All of our courses can be used for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and as supporting evidence for a range of NVQs, including those in Health & Social Care and customer services.
